in the future days, which we seek to make secure, we look forward to a world founded upon four essential human freedoms.
the first is freedom of speech and expression -- everywhere in the world.
the second is freedom of every person to worship god in his own way -- everywhere in the world.
the third is freedom from want, which, translated into world terms, means economic understandings which will secure to every nation a healthy peacetime life for its inhabitants -- everywhere in the world.
the fourth is freedom from fear, which, translated into world terms, means a world-wide reduction of armaments to such a point and in such a thorough fashion that no nation will be in a position to commit an act of physical aggression against any neighbor -- anywhere in the world.
that is no vision of a distant millennium. it is a definite basis for a kind of world attainable in our own time and generation. that kind of world is the very antithesis of the so-called “new order” of tyranny which the dictators seek to create with the crash of a bomb.
to that new order we oppose the greater conception -- the moral order. a good society is able to face schemes of world domination and foreign revolutions alike without fear.
since the beginning of our american history we have been engaged in change, in a perpetual, peaceful revolution, a revolution which goes on steadily, quietly, adjusting itself to changing conditions without the concentration camp or the quicklime in the ditch. the world order which we seek is the cooperation of free countries, working together in a friendly, civilized society.
this nation has placed its destiny in the hands and heads and hearts of its millions of free men and women, and its faith in freedom under the guidance of god. freedom means the supremacy of human rights everywhere. our support goes to those who struggle to gain those rights and keep them. our strength is our unity of purpose.

同學(xué)們好，看到這樣子的一個(gè)舞臺(tái)，我就很緊張，因?yàn)樽鰧?dǎo)演，永遠(yuǎn)是在那個(gè)攝影機(jī)背后的人，在鏡頭前面你就會(huì)緊張，好像突然你的角色不對(duì)了，有點(diǎn)語(yǔ)無(wú)倫次，請(qǐng)大家原諒。
在我小學(xué)四年級(jí)的時(shí)候，不再有機(jī)會(huì)上學(xué)了。我14歲那年，就自己拎了一個(gè)包，當(dāng)兵去了，這完全是一件不能想象的事情。從14歲到23歲這個(gè)年齡段里面，我都是在部隊(duì)，在鍛煉，好像在準(zhǔn)備著有一天重新再去上學(xué)的這一天。這一天是1978年來(lái)到的，而那一年我已經(jīng)23歲了，那一年不考大學(xué)的話，按照規(guī)定，就不能再上大學(xué)了，所以我就下了一個(gè)決心，不管我學(xué)什么，我一定要上這個(gè)大學(xué)。我一開(kāi)始沒(méi)有想到去考電影學(xué)院，我覺(jué)得我可能是去學(xué)醫(yī)比較現(xiàn)實(shí)，但是突然有一天，我們一個(gè)同事給我拿了一個(gè)《人民日?qǐng)?bào)》的報(bào)紙，上面有一個(gè)廣告上寫(xiě)的：北京電影學(xué)院招生，有一條它的規(guī)定打動(dòng)我了，它說(shuō)藝術(shù)院線考試是在高考之前，當(dāng)時(shí)給我一感覺(jué)是，我可能可以獲得兩次機(jī)會(huì)，如果要是藝術(shù)院�？疾簧�，我還可以再接著考醫(yī)學(xué)院。這個(gè)小小的原因吧，我就先去考了電影學(xué)院。
大家當(dāng)時(shí)都在開(kāi)著一個(gè)玩笑，說(shuō)長(zhǎng)得好看的肯定去考表演系，會(huì)拍照片的去考攝影系，會(huì)畫(huà)畫(huà)的人考美術(shù)系，拉點(diǎn)小提琴或者彈鋼琴的人可以考錄音系，前面那幾個(gè)系我肯定考不了，就問(wèn)說(shuō)：“導(dǎo)演系需要什么才能？”他們說(shuō)只要兩片嘴就能考導(dǎo)演系，我就去了。
我們畢業(yè)的時(shí)候，當(dāng)時(shí)我們班28個(gè)人打成了一片，都在爭(zhēng)取自己最好的機(jī)會(huì)，那時(shí)候就想怎么能進(jìn)單位，怎么能進(jìn)電影制片廠。當(dāng)時(shí)進(jìn)電影制片廠特別特別的難。北影廠只有兩個(gè)指標(biāo)，可能第一是田壯壯，第二就可能是陳凱歌，我覺(jué)得再排十個(gè)人也輪不著我。當(dāng)時(shí)我覺(jué)得，我要是能分在北京電影制片廠，我覺(jué)得我的理想可能就建筑到一半了。通過(guò)了兩個(gè)月的努力，畢業(yè)的時(shí)候，我真正拿到了北京電影制片廠的報(bào)道證，這個(gè)報(bào)道證我到現(xiàn)在還留在我自己家里面。我覺(jué)得那是我走上社會(huì)的第一步，非常非常珍貴的第一步。
人生的路可能十年是一步，可能在你的有生之年，分成五十年吧，最有效的五十年，實(shí)際上我們走五步就把這一生走完了。所以你想想這一生，其實(shí)每十年就是你的一個(gè)進(jìn)程。這十年的進(jìn)程怎么規(guī)劃它，是非常重要的一件事情。所以我就給自己走出校園的這十年做了一個(gè)規(guī)劃，當(dāng)時(shí)想，我要用三年的時(shí)間跟拍四部戲，這四部戲我就當(dāng)副導(dǎo)演，那么這四部戲的副導(dǎo)演做完了之后，我覺(jué)得我還要完成的一件事情，就是第一部作品，我自己的孩子。因?yàn)椴还茉趺礃�，我是一個(gè)女性，我怎么處理好我的感情生活，我的家庭，還有我做女人的責(zé)任，做導(dǎo)演之前是要做出一個(gè)選擇。所以我自己定了一個(gè)計(jì)劃，就是前三年一定，全部的精力放在我自己的孩子身上，然后等到她上幼兒園以后，我再出來(lái)拍戲。
講這個(gè)過(guò)程呢，實(shí)際上其實(shí)告訴每一個(gè)我們畢業(yè)、走向社會(huì)的時(shí)候，你的事業(yè)和你的生活是要同時(shí)考慮的，而在考慮的過(guò)程中間，你要有一個(gè)規(guī)劃，你可能會(huì)任性，你可能會(huì)覺(jué)得我不闖一下，我可能就不甘心，你可能會(huì)覺(jué)得我必須要試一下，我才能夠覺(jué)得我能不能干。其實(shí)我覺(jué)得這是一個(gè)最好的時(shí)機(jī)，但是你要把這個(gè)時(shí)機(jī)放在前十年，你有三次犯錯(cuò)誤的機(jī)會(huì)。犯一次錯(cuò)誤，可能你要付出兩到三年，你要重新再來(lái)整理和規(guī)劃，再重新往前走，三次機(jī)會(huì)就是九年的時(shí)間，在這個(gè)九年的時(shí)間，你可以盡情的去闖、去創(chuàng)業(yè)、去跟社會(huì)碰撞。
其實(shí)你碰撞的所有這些東西，實(shí)際上是你在認(rèn)識(shí)你自己。這十年可能是最浪漫的十年，這十年是因?yàn)槟阕约阂フJ(rèn)識(shí)你自己，你要跟你自己談一次戀愛(ài)，然后知道什么是你最?lèi)?ài)的東西，什么是你這一生中，你覺(jué)得丟掉它，你活不下去，你一說(shuō)到它你就會(huì)很激動(dòng)，你就會(huì)有激情，你就會(huì)為它付出所有一切。你要建立你一個(gè)夢(mèng)想，你要觸摸到它，有時(shí)候你覺(jué)得你觸摸到它，這個(gè)夢(mèng)就破碎了，那可能就不是你的夢(mèng)，你觸摸到它之后，你非常舍棄不掉，再難你都覺(jué)得你放不下它，這個(gè)夢(mèng)可能才是你人生的一個(gè)夢(mèng)。
所以在這十年當(dāng)中，你們有任何挫折，我都覺(jué)得不可怕，都是你人生必要的經(jīng)歷。比方說(shuō)，我自己真正拍了第一部戲的時(shí)候，我才知道我確實(shí)是對(duì)電影有一種感情，而這種感情已經(jīng)是別的任何東西取代不了的。你看我1982年進(jìn)的北影，我到1987年開(kāi)始才拍第一部戲，你可想而知我當(dāng)時(shí)對(duì)那部戲的那個(gè)心情，那種渴望的程度。結(jié)果剛剛開(kāi)機(jī)第七天，賈宏聲剛拍了第一場(chǎng)戲，就把腿給摔斷了，然后好不容易把他腿的問(wèn)題解決了，我沒(méi)有停拍，我婆婆又突然搶救。所以這部戲?qū)ξ襾?lái)講，真的是一個(gè)極大的磨煉。但是這部戲之后，我是覺(jué)得我的夢(mèng)想在電影中，我覺(jué)得我會(huì)一生為電影來(lái)付出我自己最大的'努力。
在這十年當(dāng)中，你們又可能會(huì)和我一樣經(jīng)歷你們的感情生活、家庭生活，還有你的孩子。其實(shí)這些東西我都覺(jué)得盡量在前十年解決，為什么說(shuō)生孩子一定要在這之前？你可以算一個(gè)非常簡(jiǎn)單的帳，你二十五歲生孩子的話，你三十五歲你孩子就十歲了，那時(shí)候你的父母實(shí)際上還不到六十歲，這樣子的話，你生活的負(fù)擔(dān)和你的精力相對(duì)都要充沛。所以這個(gè)賬一算吧，我覺(jué)得早生孩子，對(duì)于你的事業(yè)發(fā)展，和你的夢(mèng)想的實(shí)現(xiàn)，可能有時(shí)候是一件好事。
我覺(jué)得一般對(duì)于人生最挑戰(zhàn)的坎坷，實(shí)際上是在第二個(gè)十年，就是三十歲到四十歲的這十年，因?yàn)檫@十年是你精力最好、你特別有欲望和激情去創(chuàng)造的十年。這十年，少犯一次錯(cuò)誤，可能就會(huì)給你贏得一次機(jī)會(huì)，贏得一次成功的可能性。所以在這十年當(dāng)中，我只給自己規(guī)定了只能犯兩次錯(cuò)誤的機(jī)會(huì)。因?yàn)檫@個(gè)時(shí)候我們要犯一次錯(cuò)誤，可能會(huì)付出的代價(jià)比前面那十年要大，所以這十年是我們一定要牢牢抓住的十年，這是你成功的起步。但是也可能就在這種時(shí)候，你可能會(huì)犯下你自己一生都不愿意原諒的錯(cuò)誤。你可能會(huì)迷茫，可能會(huì)在這個(gè)時(shí)候變得不確定，面臨很多選擇，你對(duì)自己的評(píng)估可能會(huì)過(guò)高，也可能會(huì)過(guò)低。而在這個(gè)十年當(dāng)中，我自己的體會(huì)，我是放慢了自己的腳步。
1996年我做了兩件事情，第一就是辦了自己的公司，第二件事情就是選擇了去拍電視劇。1995年我們拍了《雷雨》，1998年我們拍了《大明宮詞》，2000年我們拍了《橘子紅了》。其實(shí)我覺(jué)得某種程度上來(lái)講，當(dāng)大家都覺(jué)得我好像放棄了電影理想，但是我覺(jué)得恰恰是這幾年幫了我很大的忙。電視這十年，對(duì)我是一個(gè)極大的鍛煉，是一個(gè)很大的推動(dòng)的十年。
從四十歲再到五十歲的時(shí)候，我覺(jué)得是我人生的一次升華。你只能犯一次錯(cuò)誤，你沒(méi)有機(jī)會(huì)再犯第二次錯(cuò)誤。我現(xiàn)在人生恰恰走在這個(gè)十字路口上，我覺(jué)得這個(gè)十年是回報(bào)社會(huì)的十年的開(kāi)始，可能你的生活會(huì)發(fā)生一次改變，你不但為你活著，你可能會(huì)要為更多的人，為整個(gè)社會(huì)去建設(shè)的一個(gè)十年。
名和利上，你也是可以做加減法的。在我人生當(dāng)中，如果要是說(shuō)，最舉棋不定在做加減法的時(shí)候，就是大家都知道的，對(duì)《紅樓夢(mèng)》的拍攝。對(duì)于我的名利上來(lái)講，我其實(shí)不需要這次機(jī)會(huì)。但是對(duì)于一個(gè)搞創(chuàng)作的人來(lái)講，你一生太難得有一個(gè)機(jī)會(huì)，去面對(duì)一個(gè)名著，面對(duì)這樣的一個(gè)挑戰(zhàn)。這一次我選擇了加法。
接過(guò)來(lái)的那一天，我也非常清楚，我所面對(duì)的是什么樣的困難，我可能面對(duì)的是什么樣的結(jié)果，但是是什么讓我有了這個(gè)力量，讓我堅(jiān)持下來(lái)呢？我覺(jué)得就是《紅樓夢(mèng)》本身的魅力。而且我覺(jué)得對(duì)我一個(gè)學(xué)習(xí)電影，和對(duì)電影有夢(mèng)想的人，我覺(jué)得這個(gè)機(jī)會(huì)是我一生中非常難得的，它能讓我不去想這些名和利上的損失，我覺(jué)得這三年的創(chuàng)作可能對(duì)我來(lái)講是非常享受的三年。這次選擇，就我自己平心而論，我收獲比我失去的要多。

young!fortunately, i am young now. just due to it, i know that nothing is impossible.i firmly believe that nothing can stand in my way. if i can't realize my dream,it result from that i haven't work harder enough and i won't find other excuses. if no people believe you, you can make it to prove that you are right. if you think the god haven't blessed you and there is no truth here, you can become the god and create the truth.

someone said “we are reading the first verse of the first chapter of a book, whose pages are infinite”. i don’t know who wrote these words, but i’ve always liked them as a reminder that the future can be anything we want it to be. we are all in the position of the farmers. if we plant a good seed ,we reap a good harvest. if we plant nothing at all, we harvest nothing at all.
we are young. “how to spend the youth?” it is a meaningful question. to answer it, first i have to ask “what do you understand by the word youth?” youth is not a time of life, it’s a state of mind. it’s not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips or supple knees. it’s the matter of the will. it’s the freshness of the deep spring of life.
