one sunny afternoon, when i was merrily riding home, i heard "help! help!". i rode to the riverside and found a boy of about five in the river struggling. i jumped into the water, swam to the boy and dragged him to the river bank. the boy said he was trying to catch a fish near the river bank and carelessly fell into the water. i asked him where his home was and sent him home. "thank you very much!" the boy's parents said, when i left his home. though i got home late that afternoon, i was very happy.
From the graph, we can see that there were two peaks in accidents in 20001. One was in March with the number of accidents 35. The other was in August with the number of accidents 42, which was the highest point on the distribution line. From August, the number of car accidents decreased till it reached the lowest point of the year in December. The two peaks occurred in spring and summer, the two seasons which had most of the year’s rain. Driving tends to be more dangerous on rainy days. Maybe the weather is the most important reason for car accidents. Be careful, when you drive a car on rainy days.

Yesterday morning, I heard a terrible news that my friend Allee was admitted to the hospital because of a car accident. The day before yesterday, Allee was going to bookstore to buy a book. He was very careful when he got to the crossroad. He crossed the street then the traffic light turned green. However, when he just went to the middle of the street, a car suddenly appeared at his right-hand side and came directly towards him. The driver drove fast and it was too late to dodge. Allee was knocked down by a few meters away. He was taken to the hospital immediately and had a surgery. Last night, I visited to him. He looked pale although he was out of danger.

Traffic accidents have become more serious in city A, and more people are injuried and even killed in the accidents every year. Take the above chart as an example, and only the six months from July 17th to Dec 17th 2002,600 people were injuried and 3,900 people lost their lives in the traffic accidents. If you take a careful look at the chart and study the figures, you'll find the number of people injuried or killed in the traffic accidents in city A has been increasing all the time. In July , there were only 2,000 people injuried, while inDecember, the number of the injuried went up to 4,200. There was an increase of 110 percent. As for the people killed in the accidents in July, the figure was only 300, but in December it rose to 1,200 which was four times as bigger as it was in July. So the traffic problem has become a big headache for the city government.

Early last Thursday morning, I was walking on my way to school as usual. A little boy ran past me.
He ran so fast when crossing the street that he didn’t notice a speeding car came round the corner. I was scared and shouted at him to stop, but it was too late. The boy was knocked down by the car. I hurried to the boy, crying for help. But the driver didn’t stop and drove away. The boy was bleeding when the policemen and doctors arrived. Then the boy was taken to the hospital at once. A policeman asked me some questions, but I was of no help, because I didn’t get a look at the number of the car.
Later, I learned the boy died because he lost too much blood. I was so sad and I will never forget this terrible accident.

An Eye-witness Account of a Traffic Accident The car accident happened at about 7:30 on the morning of April 6th, 2003 when I was on my way to school.
It was raining heavily, and the road was very slippery. Three little boys were going in front of me, each riding on a bike, talking loudly with each other while they rode. One of the boys didn't weara raincoat; instead he was holding an umbrella in one hand, and the handle of the bike in another. As he turned left to Hongqiao Road, a car came out at a high speed from behind a truck parked on the corner. Both the boy and the driver acted quickly, but it was too late. I heard a big noise and saw the boy falling down and an umbrella thrown away. I was completely shocked.
I think three factors attributed to this tragedy. The first factor is the boy's absent mindedness. He was talking all the way, dangerously holding an umbrella while riding the bike. The second factor is the bad weather and the slippery road, which makes it hard for the driver to bring the car to a full stop abruptly. The last factor was the improperly parked truck, which was big enough to make the road conditions invisible to the driver and students who were going to make a turn.
in recent years there has been a marked growth of fire accidents in big cities of our country. almost every day we see fire engines rushing through the streets. fires have not only resulted in heavy economic losses but also injured and killed many people.what are the causes of fire accidents? most of the fires are brought about by carelessness and violation of fire safety regulations. others are due to the poor quality of home electrical appliances. by the way, some people dont know how to use them properly. besides, there are quite a few businesses which focus so much of their attention on profits that they tend to neglect and even ignore fire precautions.
in my opinion, in order to prevent fires we should first of all foster peoples sense of fire prevention. the second thing we have to do is to increase the number of professional fire fighters, to whom regular training courses should be offered. finally, we are to improve the eisting fire engines and add more fire facilities to high-rise buildings. in this way, a reliable fire prevention system will be formed.

One day I was on my way home while I saw a crowd getting around. I went over curiously. I was very much shocked at the sight. There lied an old man who seemed to be knocked down by a car. The driver had got away. But the strangest thing to me was that so many people were just stood there watching. No one wanted to help. Just at that time, there came a young man. He quickly took the man in his arms and rushed towards the hospital. I was wondering whether those standers-by, maybe including me, blushed with shame at this sight.

nowaday, the number of the traffic accidents has been growing in recent years. in 2004, up to 570,000 road accidents occurred in china, which claimed a total of 109,000 lives.
the situation got worse in 2005. statistics show that merely from january to october saw 566,000 tragedies happen with a higher death rate.
the above aching fact reminds us that it’s high time we faced and solves this problem! though our country owns only 2% of the world cars, it contributes amazingly 22% to the total accidents! doubtlessly, our country ranks first as the most serious traffic accident rate.
china cannot afford millions of life losses, and we can not let the sorrow slow down our development speed. the government must play the most important role in solve the problem. strict traffic rules should be made, and more importantly, practiced and followed.
according to some other countries’ experience, high fine may also help. slow down the speed of cars, as well as our country, there are always something worth your attention.

In recent years, a lot of news about people injured or killed by cars on roads can be heard or seen, which shows us that traffic accidents have been increasing.
But why are there so many such magic events? Is it just because more cars are running on the roads with the development of economy, or because the road conditions can‘t meet the requirement of cars? I think maybe that‘s only one part of the reason. The safety awareness seems much more important in the cause of road accidents. As we all know, quite a lot of traffic accidents are due to the drivers who drive cars after drinking. Drunk drivers‘ mind is vague, and they can‘t control themselves and the car well, so they can easily spoil other‘s happiness out of consciousness.
Having realized the main reason and sad effect of the car accidents, we can find some ways to avoid or decrease the accidents. In addition to the improvement of traffic conditions, people must beobliged to obey the traffic rules. Everyone should understand the meaning of life and be careful when driving.

The rate of the traffic accidents has dropped considerably on bridge road in recent years. According to the statistic we have in hand, only six accidents took place in 2000. This accident rate is even lower than that of 1991 when the rate was not increased yet. In 1992, as the nearby road was closed, bridge road began too busy and a lot of accidents followed consequently. To bring down the accident rate, the local government moved the bus stop 100 yards away from where had been and reduced the accidents markedly. In the next four years, the accident rate remained more less at the same level. Then in the years from 1998 onward, the local government put no parking, no right turn and no over taking signs by the road. All these signs have proved to be very effective in reducing the traffic accidents.

Though the possibility of living a long and happy life is greater than ever before, every day thousands of people all over the world are killed or horribly mutilated on the roads just because of traffic accidents.
This situation is mainly due to the following two reasons. In the first place, the drivers are becoming less aware of social morality. When they are sitting behind a steering wheel, they totally forget the traffic laws which should be complied with. In the second place, the surprising thing is that society smiles so benignly on the peace breakers and seems to condone their behavior. As the transportation develops, cities become almost uninhabitable because of heavy traffic and the countryside is destroyed by the complicated road networks.
