　　翻譯大家許淵沖先生說(shuō)過(guò)：“21世紀(jì)要建設(shè)世界文化，不能僅關(guān)注一個(gè)國(guó)家的文化;但要建設(shè)世界文化，中國(guó)文化在其中發(fā)揮著舉足輕重的作用�；仡欀形鞣轿幕�發(fā)展歷史，在2000年前，中國(guó)文化和西方文化是并立的，西方有荷馬史詩(shī)，中國(guó)有《詩(shī)經(jīng)》、《楚辭》;在1000年前，中國(guó)有漢唐文化，西方有宗教文化，西方文化不如中國(guó)文化繁華發(fā)展;但在最近500年來(lái)，西方文化呈現(xiàn)壓倒中國(guó)文化之勢(shì);一直到21世紀(jì)中國(guó)提出”中國(guó)夢(mèng)“，中國(guó)文化逐漸復(fù)興，才又跟西方文化并起。”這段話告訴我們，要實(shí)現(xiàn)“中國(guó)夢(mèng)”就要大力復(fù)興中國(guó)文化，作為祖國(guó)的未來(lái)，我們大學(xué)生有責(zé)任有義務(wù)了解中國(guó)文化、傳承中國(guó)文化。

　　For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to translate a passage from Chinese into English. You should write your answer on Answer Sheet 2.

　　“虛”指世界或者心靈的.一種狀態(tài)。大體有兩種不同的含義：其一，指世界的本原，萬(wàn)物皆由虛無(wú)中來(lái)。但古人對(duì)“虛”的這一含義又有不同理解：或認(rèn)為“虛”就是空虛烏有;或認(rèn)為“虛”指“氣”的存在狀態(tài)，因?yàn)?ldquo;氣”的存在隱微無(wú)形，故以“虛”稱之，但并非完全空無(wú)。其二，指虛靜的或沒(méi)有成見的內(nèi)心狀態(tài)。

　　Xu refers to a state of the cosmos or a state of mind. Basically, it has two different meanings. The first refers to the origin of the universe, indicating that everything originates from xu, Different ancient thinkers have different interpretations of this notion: Some take xu as being devoid of anything; others believe it is the state of existence of qi(氣). Because qi is invisible and formless, It is said to be empty, but not a vacuum totally devoid of anything. The second meaning of xu refers to a state of mind that is peaceful, not preoccupied or simply free of any preconceptions.

　　亞洲人民深知，世界上沒(méi)有放之四海而皆準(zhǔn)的發(fā)展模式，也沒(méi)有一成不變的發(fā)展道路，亞洲人民勇于變革創(chuàng)新，不斷開拓進(jìn)取，探索和開辟適應(yīng)時(shí)代潮流，符合自身實(shí)際的發(fā)展道路，為經(jīng)濟(jì)社會(huì)發(fā)展打開了廣闊前景。

　　In modern times, Asia experienced twists and turns in its development. To change their destiny, the people of Asia have been forging ahead in an indomitable spirit and with hard struggle. Asia's development achievements today are the result of the persistent efforts of the industrious and talented Asian people.

　　The people of Asia are fully aware that there is no ready model or unchanging path of development that is universally applicable. They never shy away from reform and innovation. Instead, they are committed to exploring and finding development paths that are in line with the trend of the times and their own situations, and have opened up bright prospects for economic and social development.
