　　1.「主詞」：that 位于句首時不可省略，此句型常用代詞 it 取代;

　　That love can conquer everything is not necessarily true.

　　= Itis not necessarily true (that)love can conquer everything.

　　愛可以征服任何事情不是必然正確的。

　　※ 用虛主詞 it 取代時， that 可省略。

　　2.「賓語」：that 通常可省略，且大多不作介系詞的賓語;

　　1.President Obama promised (that) he will create millions of jobs in the next four years.

　　歐巴馬總統(tǒng)答應(yīng)在接下來的四年內(nèi)，他會創(chuàng)造出百萬個工作職

　　2.He is afraid (that) his application for the job will be turned down.

　　他害怕他的工作申請會被拒絕。

　　※ turn down 除了拒絕之外，還有關(guān)小、調(diào)低的意思

　　3.常見 reporting verbs 后可省略;

　　reporting verbs 是什么呢?它的定義是動詞用來「表達(dá)被引述或改述的談話」

　　如：say、tell、believe、reply、respond、ask …，that 可以擺在很多常見的 reporting verbs 后面，但是又可區(qū)分成可省略 that的 reporting verbs 和不可省略 that 的 reporting verbs，先來看看可省略 that 的例子

　　1.James said (that)he was feeling better.

　　James 說他覺得好一點(diǎn)了。

　　2.Ithought (that) you were in Ireland.

　　我還以為你在愛爾蘭。

　　再來看看不可省略 that 的例子：

　　1.Jamesreplied thathe was feeling better.

　　James 回復(fù)說他已經(jīng)好點(diǎn)了。

　　2.She shouted thatshe was busy.

　　她大聲地吼說她很忙。

　　3.The labor union insisted thatthe government should take immediate action to save the insurance program.

　　勞工聯(lián)盟堅持政府馬上采取動作，以保護(hù)保險計劃。

　　4.形容詞后可省略;

　　在某些形容詞后面，我們可以省略 that

　　1.I’m glad (that) you’re all right.

　　我很高興你沒事。

　　2.We were surprised (that) she came.

　　對她的到來我們感到很驚訝。

　　5.名詞后不可省略;

　　若 that 接在名詞的后面，我們通常不會省略

　　1.I did not believe his claim thathe was ill.

　　我不相信他說他生病了。

　　2.The thoughtthat my parents will always support me encourages me to live out my dream.

　　想到我的父母會一直支持我，就能鼓勵我去實(shí)踐我的夢想。

　　※live out: 住在外面;活過(某一段時間);實(shí)踐

　　6.句中若有兩個 that 子句作受詞，第二個 that 不可省略;

　　1.We all know (that) he is crazy about you andthathe wants to marry you.我們都知道他對妳著迷而且想要跟妳結(jié)婚。

　　If you find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn’t lead anywhere.

　　太容易的路，可能根本就不能帶你去任何地方。
