1. I am turning 23 tomorrow.
明天我就二十三歲了。
英文里講“到明年幾歲了”有一個(gè)固定的說(shuō)法，就是要用 turn 這個(gè)動(dòng)詞，而且多半是用現(xiàn)在進(jìn)行時(shí) be turning，因?yàn)橛袑⒁�、即將、未�?lái)時(shí)的含意在內(nèi)。所以同樣這句話如果你說(shuō)：I will become 23 tomorrow. 雖然文法上沒(méi)錯(cuò)，但聽(tīng)起來(lái)就是怪怪的。
2. She is in her birthday suit.
她什么也沒(méi)穿。
大家看到這個(gè) birthday suit 可別以為是單純的特別為生日準(zhǔn)備的服裝喔! 一般人們講到 birthday suit 時(shí)，指的是什么也沒(méi)穿。原因是人出生時(shí)是一絲不掛，所以 birthday suit 指的就是你出生時(shí)所穿的那套服裝，也就是裸體的意思。
3. You are a party pooper.
你真是掃興。
玩得正高興的.時(shí)候，有事必須要先走，這樣的人就被叫做 party pooper。 什么是 party pooper 呢? 有兩種解釋，第一種就是指那些很掃興的人，比如說(shuō)人家要玩游戲你也不玩，別人說(shuō)笑話你也不笑，這種人就是 party pooper。另一種就是指那些 party 開(kāi)到一半就中途開(kāi)溜的人。

由于大家的保密工夫到家，所以過(guò)生日的人事先并不知道有這么一個(gè) party，而是到了那兒， 燈一開(kāi)發(fā)現(xiàn)居然有那么多人在等她，感動(dòng)得只差沒(méi)當(dāng)場(chǎng)哭出來(lái)。像這種的 party 就稱為 surprise party(注意可不是 surprising party)。
2. That's a real eye-opening experience.
那真是一個(gè)令人大開(kāi)眼界的經(jīng)歷。
Eye-opening 指的就是令人大開(kāi)眼界，像這樣一個(gè)別出心裁的宴會(huì)，就可以算是 an eye-opening experience。像這樣的經(jīng)歷也可以用 open my eye 來(lái)表示。比方說(shuō)別人帶你去一個(gè)很豪華的別墅，你就可以這么說(shuō)：That building really opened my eye.
3. Who is going to organize the birthday party next time?
下次輪到誰(shuí)辦生日派對(duì)了呢?
我們說(shuō)“辦……活動(dòng)”，英文可以用 organize 這個(gè)動(dòng)詞，比如說(shuō)辦個(gè)party 就可以說(shuō) organize a party。有些人很喜歡辦活動(dòng)，這種人有一種特別的`稱呼，叫 social coordinator，和中文里“公關(guān)”的意思差不多。
4. I bought a cake about this big!
我買了一個(gè)蛋糕大約有這么大。
講這句話的時(shí)候記得要跟手勢(shì)一起用，所以如果不知該怎么形容一個(gè)東西有多大，就把這句話拿來(lái)變化一下就可以了。像那天party時(shí)買了一個(gè)蛋糕，一個(gè)人就說(shuō)：I bought a cake about this big! 說(shuō) I bought a cake like this big.也是可以的。
除了 big 之外你也可以換成其它形容詞。例如：I have a brother about this tall. 這樣不也蒙混過(guò)關(guān)了嗎?不過(guò)這句話有個(gè)缺點(diǎn)，就是講電話時(shí)不能用，因?yàn)橹v電話時(shí)不能比動(dòng)作，比了對(duì)方也看不到，當(dāng)然視頻電話除外。
