例1：It is hard to get the general idea of this article. It is difficult to comprehend the general idea of this article.譯文：理解這篇文章的大意很困難。評析：相對于口語化的hard 和get，difficult 和comprehend 則更為正規(guī)。
例2：A friend is a guy you can depend on when you are in trouble. Afriend is a person you can depend on when you are in trouble.譯文：朋友就是遇到困難時(shí)你可以依靠的人。評析：guy 是俚語，不能用在書面語中，應(yīng)換成中性詞person。
例3：I decide to have a go at learning swimming. I decide tomake an attempt to learn swimming.譯文：我決定嘗試學(xué)習(xí)游泳。評析：have a go 是非常口語化的表達(dá)，就像have a try，不應(yīng)用于書面語中。
