在設(shè)計這節(jié)課時,我的初衷沒有追求語法教學(xué)的短期高效性,只想讓孩子們知道,語法不是冷冰冰的,不只是為高考做準(zhǔn)備的,其實,where/when這個兩個關(guān)系副詞跟他們的生活是密切相關(guān)的,是可以幫助他們表達思想的。
上課前,我向班主任詢問學(xué)生家長的職業(yè)信息,挑選學(xué)校、醫(yī)院、銀行、房地產(chǎn)公司、電視臺、檢疫局、政府部門等單位。課堂上,先提問一個來自常青藤學(xué)校的學(xué)生:
T: Taylor, which school did you graduate from?
S: Changqingteng School.
T: Did you have fun there?
S: Yes.
T: So Changqing School isa place whereyou had fun. By the way, what does your mother do?
S: She is a teacher in a primary school.
T: What does she teach?
S: She teaches children how to play games.
T: So your mother works ina school whereshe teaches kids how to play games.
通過這種方式,向?qū)W生暗示,在談?wù)摳改嘎殬I(yè)的時候,可以使用where引導(dǎo)的定語從句,來補充更多的相關(guān)信息。接著,又鼓勵更多的學(xué)生談?wù)撟约焊改傅南嚓P(guān)職業(yè):
My father works ina bank wheremoney is kept and borrowed.
My mother works ina hospital wheresick people are treated.
My father works ina TV station whereprograms are broadcast.
在學(xué)生對where引導(dǎo)的定語從句有了直觀感覺后,我又呈現(xiàn)了下面這張PPT,讓他們做“對子”活動,談?wù)搶W(xué)校圖書館、醫(yī)務(wù)室、食堂、實驗室、操場等場所的功能:
A library is a place where we can borrow books.
A clinic is a room in the school where sick students can get help
A canteen is a place where many kinds of foods are served.
A lab is a place where we can do many interesting experiments.
為了銜接下一個教學(xué)環(huán)節(jié),我讓學(xué)生用英語給“家”下一個定義,順便導(dǎo)出when引導(dǎo)的定語從句:
T: What’s a home?
S1: Home is a place where I live.
S2: Home is a place where I feel safe and happy.
S3: Home is a place where I was born.
T: Yes, home is a place where we were born. (Pointing to a student) When were you born?
S: I was born on August 3rd.
T: So birthday isthe day whenwe were born. You must have celebrated many birthdays. Which is the specialist one?
S1: My 12thbirthday. On that day, I got a very big cake.
T: So you can’t forgetyour 12thbirthday whenyou got a very big cake.
T: (moving to another student) How about you? Which birthday will you always remember?
S2: I will always remembermy 8th birthday whenwe had a big party.
S3: I can’t forgetthe 11th birthday whenmy parents took me to Europe for a holiday.
課上到這里,學(xué)生已經(jīng)對關(guān)系副詞when引導(dǎo)的定語有了一個初步認識。趁熱打鐵,我呈現(xiàn)了下一張圖片,誘導(dǎo)學(xué)生用定語從句來解釋更多的中國傳統(tǒng)節(jié)日。
S1: Spring Festival is a time when family member gather.
S2: Spring Festival is a time when kids can get lots of lucky money.
S3: Spring Festival is a time when people can have many delicious meals.
在討論了春節(jié)、清明節(jié)、端午節(jié)等中國傳統(tǒng)節(jié)日后,再讓學(xué)生以小組為單位討論圣誕節(jié)、萬圣節(jié)等
S1: April Fool's Day is the day when people play tricks on each other.
S2: Halloween is the night of the 31st of October when children often dress up as ghosts and witches.
S3: Christmas is a holiday when the birth of Jesus Christ is celebrated.
說句實話,這節(jié)課的效率到底如何?能不能比得上傳統(tǒng)的語法課?我自己心里也沒有底,但是,有一點是肯定的,學(xué)生非常喜歡,在課堂上都愿意參與,都愿意表達自己對各個場所和節(jié)日的個性化定義。

定語:定語用來限定、修飾名詞或代詞的.,是對名詞或代詞起修飾、限定作用的詞、短語(動詞不定式短語、動名詞短語和分詞短語)或句子,漢語中常用的表示。主要由形容詞擔(dān)任,此外,名詞,代詞,數(shù)詞,分詞,副詞,不定式以及介詞短語也可以來擔(dān)任,也可以由一個句子來擔(dān)任。單詞作定語時通常放在它所修飾的詞之前,作前置定語。短語和從句作定語時則放在所修飾的詞之后,作后置定語。

上面兩句中的man和everything是定語從句所修飾的詞,叫先行詞,定語從句放在先行詞的后面。
