1. Catch a chill. 著涼，感冒
Don’t go out with wet hair, you might catch a chill.
別濕著頭發(fā)就跑出去，會(huì)著涼的。
It’s no joke catching a chill when you are recovering from an injury.
你正在養(yǎng)傷，受了寒可不是玩兒的!
Tips: 這里的chill是寒冷，寒氣的意思，為可數(shù)名詞。catch a chill更多的表示感冒是由天氣而引起的;have/catch a cold則可以表示通過(guò)他人感染。
2. Cast a chill over sb. 使某人感到沮喪、寒心
The unpleasant news cast a chill over the whole party.
那個(gè)不愉快的消息讓整個(gè)聚會(huì)的人都意興闌珊。
The extensive security measures might cast a chill over the Games.
大范圍的安全檢查措施可能會(huì)讓奧運(yùn)會(huì)蒙上陰影。
3. Take the chill off sth. 驅(qū)除寒氣，把…暖一暖
Take the chill off the water before you bathe.
洗澡前先把水加熱。
We lit the fire to take the chill off the room.
我們點(diǎn)了火，好驅(qū)走房間里的寒氣。
4. Put the chill on sb. 對(duì)某人冷淡，殺死某人
Nancy doesn’t know why her husband put the chill on her.
南希不清楚她丈夫?yàn)楹螌?duì)她冷淡。
You can’t just put the chill on her only because you don’t like her.
你不能因?yàn)椴幌矚g她就把她殺了。
5. Chill out. 休閑放松，平靜下來(lái)
I’m just chilling out in front of the TV.
我正看電視放松呢。
Chill out, mum. The train doesn’t leave for another hour.
悠著點(diǎn)，老媽�；疖囈粋�(gè)小時(shí)后才開(kāi)呢。
6. Chill sb. to the bone/marrow
. 使人感到害怕，感到寒氣刺骨
This is a film that will chill you to the bone.
這是部會(huì)讓你毛骨悚然的電影。
His threat chilled her to the bone.
他威脅她，把她嚇壞了。
