1、教材的'主要內(nèi)容
大學(xué)英語(二)課程根據(jù)全國高等教育自學(xué)考試指導(dǎo)委員會要求，使用全國統(tǒng)一教材，大學(xué)英語自學(xué)教程(上下冊)，上冊25單元，下冊15單元。每單元兩篇課文，A篇課文要求精讀后主動掌握，B篇課文則只要求理解。
2、出題類型和規(guī)律
本課程自學(xué)考試命題的廣度和難度根據(jù)本考試大綱規(guī)定的知識范圍和能力要求確定。試題包括客觀性試題和主觀性試題，從目前考試趨勢來看，分別占卷面總分的50%。考試題型包含七種，分別為：詞匯與結(jié)構(gòu)、完形填空、閱讀理解、單詞拼寫、詞形變化、漢譯英、英譯漢。
3、復(fù)習(xí)重點
本課程的重點是英語的基本詞匯和語法，課程的主要目的是培養(yǎng)閱讀能力。詞匯的復(fù)習(xí)以大綱詞匯為主，短語部分要熟練掌握，詞匯記憶過程及方法如下：

a.將同類一組詞匯放在一起記憶，當(dāng)遇到其中一個詞時，頭腦中出現(xiàn)的就是一組詞，效率大大提高了。

B.結(jié)合上下文情景記憶
把單詞放在語境中才能真正了解其準(zhǔn)確的意思，把抽象概念的詞放在短語、句子或課文中背，才能對詞的理解具體化。這樣既容易記住，又能更好地了解它在具體語言環(huán)境中的運用。公共英語自學(xué)考試有其特殊性，考生在掌握單詞和熟讀課文的基礎(chǔ)上，結(jié)合自考教材在課文中記憶單詞。
C.重復(fù)強化記憶
根據(jù)遺忘規(guī)律，有計劃地“重現(xiàn)”中鞏固英語單詞，能增強記憶效果。遺忘的規(guī)律是先快后慢，剛記住的材料，最初幾個小時內(nèi)遺忘的速度最快。如果四至七天內(nèi)不復(fù)現(xiàn)，記憶將受到抑制，甚至完全消失。
語法要全面學(xué)習(xí)重點掌握。不僅要復(fù)習(xí)(下冊)的語法內(nèi)容，還要復(fù)習(xí)(上冊)有關(guān)語法內(nèi)容，具體包括：動詞時態(tài)和語態(tài)、非謂語動詞、虛擬語氣、定語從句、名詞性從句、狀語從句、比較級、語序、主謂一致、強調(diào)句、基本句型;動詞和復(fù)合句尤為重要。
