It is well-known that we exist in a dynamic world with various difficulties. When we are faced with them, nothing is more important than hope and self-confidence. With confidence, we can find sometimes the question is not as “huge”as we imagine.
Take most of us for example, the entrance exam to college seems to be a horrible monster. Accordingly, some people give up, some persist. In my eyes, with confidence, right assessment of the difficulties, as well as full preparation, try and exert your strength, and then we will overcome all problems and challenges. On the whole, I believe we youngsters should face the difficulties in right manner. And nothing is impossible, brave it out and just do it!
眾所周知，我們生活在一個(gè)動(dòng)態(tài)的充滿各種困難的世界。當(dāng)我們面對(duì)困難的時(shí)候，希望和自信是最重要的。有了信心，我們有時(shí)會(huì)發(fā)現(xiàn)問(wèn)題并沒(méi)有我們想象中的大。
我們打個(gè)比方，高考似乎是一個(gè)可怕的怪物。因此，有些人放棄了，有些人堅(jiān)持。在我的眼里，有信心，正確評(píng)估的困難，以及充分的準(zhǔn)備，盡量發(fā)揮你的力量，然后我們將克服所有的問(wèn)題和挑戰(zhàn)�？偟膩�(lái)說(shuō)，我相信我們年輕人應(yīng)該以正確的方式面對(duì)困難。沒(méi)有什么是不可能的，勇敢的去做吧！

2000 年 1 月 19 日至 22 日，國(guó)務(wù)院西部地區(qū)開(kāi)發(fā)會(huì)議召開(kāi)。請(qǐng)根據(jù)下列提示，用英語(yǔ)寫一篇短文，說(shuō)明西部地區(qū)開(kāi)發(fā)的重要意義。

The Chinese Government has decided to quicken the development of the western region. In recent years， the eastern region of China has been developing rapidly since its reform and opening up to the outside world. But the western region remains undeveloped. China is a large country with 56 nationalities. We must quicken the progress of China as a whole to realize the modernizations. Although the western region is rich in resourses， yet it is short of water. With its development we must keep the balance of nature. A Shining Star
A good teacher is like a shining star to students. Miss Li, my senior high school English teacher, is a shining star in my life.
When I began my senior high school years, I had difficulty in learning English. I dared not speak English aloud in public because of my poor pronunciation and intonation. I could not get high marks and my grammar was not right at all. Frustrated and afraid of being laughed at, I never put up my hand to answer questions in English class. When Miss Li found out my situation, she encouraged me and lent me a hand. She patiently taught me English grammar, helped me understand how to write a good sentence,and lent me many English books and magazines, which rapidly improved my English. With her help, I became interested in English and eventually got high marks.
Miss Li, like a shining star, shines in my path of success.
一個(gè)好老師對(duì)學(xué)生來(lái)說(shuō)就像一顆閃亮的星。李老師，我高中時(shí)的英語(yǔ)老師，就是我生命中一顆閃亮的星。

A good teacher is like a shining star to students. My senior high school English teacher called Miss Li is such a shining star in my life.
When I began my study in senior high school, I came across difficulty in my English study and I was one of the weakest sudents in English in my class. Fortunately, Miss Li lent me a hand. She introduced to me the way of English study and created a lot of chances for me to practise my spoken English in class. With her help, I caught up with my classmates in English. I became interested in English. From then on English has been my favorite subject.
Miss Li, like a shining star, shines on my way to success.

我剛上高中時(shí);英語(yǔ)學(xué)得很吃力，是班上英語(yǔ)最差的學(xué)生之一。幸運(yùn)的是，李老師及時(shí)幫助了我。她向我介紹學(xué)英語(yǔ)的方法，創(chuàng)造許多機(jī)會(huì)讓我在課上練習(xí)口語(yǔ)。在她的幫助下，我的英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)終于趕了上來(lái)。我開(kāi)始對(duì)英語(yǔ)感興趣了。從那之后，英語(yǔ)一直就是我最喜歡的學(xué)科。

班會(huì) Class meeting
We will pay a visit to the old people's home this Sunday. We'll have to meet at the school gate at 8:30 on Sunday morning and then go there by bus. There we will do some cleaning and tidy the rooms. After that we will have many activities, such as singing, dancing, telling stories and chatting to cheer up the old. Before we leave, we'll give our presents to them. I hope all of us can take an active part. Through the meaningful activity, we can learn to care for the old.
