　　壓歲錢(lucky money )是中國春節(jié)習俗中不可缺少的一項元素，是每個孩子過年時都熱切期盼的禮物。除夕夜，家中的長輩會給予未成年的孩子一定數額的錢，稱之為“壓歲錢”,據說壓歲錢可以使孩子平平安安地度過新的一年。在中國， 給壓歲錢的風俗源遠流長，流傳至今。它是長輩送給孩子的護身符(amulet), 代表著長輩對孩子的美好祝福，可以保佑孩子在新的一年里健康吉利。

　　1.除夕夜：即中國農歷新年“春節(jié)”的.前夜，可譯為ChineseNew Year's Eve,或者the Eve of the Spring Festival。

　　2.未成年的：可譯為underage或者immature。

　　3.一定數額的錢：翻譯為a certain sum of cash。“壓歲錢”譯為lucky money 屬于固定搭配，而這里提到的具體的“錢”譯為cash則更貼切一些，因為壓歲錢一般都是采用現金的形式。

　　對聯

　　對聯(Chinese couplet)也叫“對子”，由兩句形式相通、內容相連的語句組成。第一部分稱作“上聯”，貼在右側，第二部分，即“下聯”則貼在左側。兩行字不僅字數要一致，而且相同位置上的字必須對仗工整(antithetic in form),平仄協調(harmonious in tone )。按用途不同，對聯可以分為很多種，在新年貼的對聯也叫“春聯”，表達了人們的'美好祝福與愿望，也為新年增添了節(jié)日氣氛。

　　The Chinese couplet is also called “Duizi”. It consistsof two sentences which are identical in form andinterrelated in meaning. The first line is called“upper couplet”，which is put up or hung on theright side, and the other is called “lower couplet” which is placed on the left side. Not only arethe two lines required to have an equal number of characters, the words stand in the sameposition in each of the two sentences must be antithetic in form and harmonious in tone. Fordifferent purposes, there are different couplets. The couplet for the Spring Festival is called“Chunlian”，which conveys the blessing and good wishes of the people and enhances thefestive atmosphere of the New Year, too.
